Credit Lyonnais (LCL) is one of the major French commercial banks. It was founded by Henri Germain in July 1863 and was the largest bank in the world by 1900. In the early 1990s, Crédit Lyonnais was the largest state-owned French bank.

LCL bank serves more than 6 million customers through a network of approximately 2,000 branches in France and offices in more than 60 countries. LCL provides consumer and commercial banking as well as investment services (corporate finance, securities brokerage and asset management).

When LCL was acquired by Credit Agricole, they shifted their focus back to the French market. The services they provide today are directed towards individual private banking and banking professionals. Services offered include online banking, corporate banking, and asset management.

There are currently 5 subsidiaries operated by LCL: Interfimo (funding agency for independent professionals), Themis bank (financing of insolvency of companies), New Angle (investment in new housing) and BFC-AG (French Commercial Bank of Antilles and Guyana).
